Things You should beware of before Juvederm

Juvederm is an injection of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers which once administered it takes 9months to one year of correction for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. In the Juvederm community, it’s regrettable that some people after getting the injection, they look back and say, “I wish I knew or had information before I went for the treatment.”  For this reason, it’s clear that some are not satisfied with the results.

To avoid regrets and perhaps to enlighten you a bit, below is information which I believe is helpful.

Choosing an Injector

Never take a shortcut when it comes to choosing an injector. Do your homework wisely. Consult a plastic surgeon and find out more about the process. In addition, whoever does the injection should be certified. Moreover, he/she should be specialized in this field. In my opinion, you better go with the experience than the title. For this reason, not all surgeons got great hands for the needlework. So a person who does these procedures on regular basis and who knows the reaction of the product is highly recommended.

How does the product work

Juvederm is a gel that is injected into wrinkles and lines to fill them.  Also, it can be used for lip enhancement making is more versatile than Restalyne. The Juvederm smile brand is the one used for lips enhancement. It’s injected into the lips to make them fuller.

Risks Involved

Well, just like any other medical procedure there are risks but very rare. This is one reason you should go to a trained surgeon.  Nevertheless, some post-injection and minor bruising is to be expected although they will subside soon. Just follow your doctor’s advice and avoid putting too much pressure on the treated spots.

How long does it last?

The duration will largely depend on the area you inject and the formula. The filler can last to a minimum of 6-months and a maximum of 2 years. This formula goes away faster in the lips because of vigorous activities (talking, eating, laughing etc.) If the filler is injected below eyelids to encounter hollowness, the filler can stay up to 3-years because this is a static area and it will sit on the bone thus, it will not go away quickly. In addition, thinner formulas have less staying power compared to thicker formulas like Restylane Lyft variations and aforementioned Voluma.

How much does it cost?

I can’t actually pinpoint the exact cost of each syringe or the brand. The reason to this is because technology changes every single minute and the formula ingredients might change after the publication of this post. That might result in changes in price. So, the actual price will be determined by the doctor. But it should be around $200 to $300.

What to expect after the treatment?

Expect a smooth younger looking skin. But, this procedure does not always go well with everybody.  So do adequate research about your skin etc. just to be sure everything will go smooth. You can usually get a free consultation. This is a good way to make sure you are comfortable with facility and also to make sure you are an ideal candidate. We did this when we went to a Juvederm Scottsdale inject-able bar. Pretty much all Med Spas In Nashville offer this kind of treatment.

How to Avoid Bruising with Fillers

When you get cosmetic injectable like Juvederm, swelling, lumps, and bumps can occur. However, your pre-treatment and post-treatment actions are likely to cause more harm to these effects. To help you avoid unnecessary bruising, the first step is to follow our doctor’s advice. And don’t hesitate to ask any question you have prior the injection day.

It doesn’t go without mentioning that even the best dermatologists can give you a red spot, a temporary bump or a bruise. For this reason, to avoid serious post-treatment effects, go with the best injector in your area. Nevertheless, no matter the injector you choose, avoid any important work for 2-6 days. If you easily bruise, you may require up to 14 days healing. Although the good this is that most bruises can be covered by make-ups. But, if you have an important occasion like a wedding, let the fillers be done 4 weeks prior your big day because some bruises can last up to 14-days.

To Avoid Bruising with Fillers before Treatment

The results of your injection will depend on how you will communicate with your doctor on what you expect after the treatment. The treatment will be satisfactory if you are realistic and clear.

  • Before treatment, discontinue any medication 7-days prior the injection. Although some may be required for one or two reasons discuss this with your doctor. The reason to stop the medication is because they will make your blood cells clot. As a result, you will encounter bruising.
  • Try to eat pineapples 2-3 days prior the injection day. Bromelain supplements or pineapple extract is not advised as it has severe side effects.
  • Don’t eat garlic 1-2 days before injection
  • Stop boozing alcohol for a minimum of 3 days before injection

During Treatment

  • Some dermatologists are rough in their injection technique. A soft and smooth injection will help prevent bruising
  • If your doctor applies a numbing cream 30 minutes before injection, it will help prevent bruising. Besides, you will feel more comfortable during treatment. Ask your doctor if he/she will apply a numbing cream.
  • Ask for an ice bag to apply after treatment
  • A good doctor will tell you if you are likely to have bruising after treatment or not basing on the experience he/she has.

After Treatment

Swelling, redness, bruising, itching, tenderness, discoloration of the injection site are the commonly related injection reactions you are likely to encounter. Personal healing characters and treatment aggressiveness are likely to determine the duration of your filler. In most cases, it takes up to two weeks.

  • Don’t take alcohol 24 hours after the treatment
  • Avoid rubbing, squeezing or massaging the treated area as this could change the results.
  • No exercises for 28-48 hours after the injection. Keep your heart rate below 100. Do not do any yoga inversions or hot yoga.
  • Frequent use of sunscreen is vital
  • Avoid excess sun or heat until when the initial swelling and redness have been resolved

Juvederm products are a consistent gel, unlike other hyaluronic gel products which got granular uniformity. Let’s look at the benefits of Juvederm.

  • The Results are Immediate

The areas that are treated, the result are apparent. To achieve optimal volume enhancement or smoothing of wrinkles, you only need one treatment.

Generally, the treatment experience is comfortable because this product contains lidocaine. Lidocaine is a pain reliever which makes you feel good during and after the treatment.

The good thing about this product is that once injected and you are not satisfied with the results, you can go back to your usual look. Furthermore, HA fillers are biodegradable meaning after some time; the fillers will break down and disappear.

Side Effects of Juvederm

  1. Mass or Lump

The patient may fee mass or lump beneath the surface of the treated skin where the injection was administered. The treated area feels more firm than the rest. Above all, these effects may last up to 7-days after this procedure.

  1. Skin discoloration or Bruising

Following the treatment, the injected area can appear bruised or discolored. The affected spot may appear purple, red or blue in color. However, the skin heals when Juvederm subsides.

  1. Inflammatory Skin Reactions

Skin inflammation around the injected area may be experienced. Not everyone will experience this but quite a number. However, the inflammatory skin is temporary and usually disappears after a week.

  1. Pain or Tenderness

During and following treatment with Juvederm, some individuals can experience the sensation of pain. Sensations of pain are as a result of the needle when pierced through the skin. The treated spot will feel uncomfortable for few days. Furthermore, some people can experience a stinging sensation at the treated spot.

There are some who have had a Juvederm injection and the results went far way than they expected. Other has had the same injection and the results are stunning. The point is, the injection does not work miracles to all who go for it, however, and the good thing is that the injection is reversible. If you are new to this, ensure you have done enough research and the dermatologist you work with is qualified.
